Deliberate tax defaultersMarch 9, 2011 The Tax Office is going to hassle those who deliberately cheat the tax system, as opposed to those who make careless mistakes. Taxpayers who have received a penalty for making deliberate tax errors will have all aspects of their tax affairs closely monitored by HMRC for two to five years, or for as long as the HMRC believe the person is a tax risk. The taxpayers affected will be told in writing that they are in this monitoring programme.
