Christmas Day marks the beginning of the twelve days of Christmas. In the lead-up to the big day, we’ve been thinking about our achievements over the past twelve months.
CKLG Private Client is proud to announce twelve of our successes in 2022 that we’d like to sing about over the festive period:
We’ve worked on many Estate Planning and Inheritance Tax (IHT) projects to ensure our clients and their families keep more of their income and wealth during their retirement years and beyond.
- Helping our clients plan for, and mitigate, potential Capital Gains Tax liabilities on the disposal of land to developers and when making gifts to family members.
- Our relationship with local lawyers who help our clients update their Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorneys, set up Trusts and work alongside us on other tax planning projects.
- Enjoying working with many Independent Financial Advisers to help our mutual clients manage their retirement income and pensions, and consider the potential benefits of tax-efficient investments, such as EIS, SEIS and AIM shares.
- The satisfaction of building long-term relationships with our clients to help them understand and navigate the ever-changing tax landscape we live in. One of the biggest things this year has been helping families understand various Trust structures and assisting them with meeting the numerous reporting obligations whilst minimising taxes.
- Making light work of the onerous ‘CGT Property Returns’ which need completing after individuals (including those who live overseas) dispose of UK residential property, within 60 days of completion.
- Successfully concluding Disclosures and Enquiries with HMRC, ensuring minimal penalties and hassle.
- Extensive discussions with clients and contacts over the tax efficiency of property investments. Increasing mortgage rates, alongside reductions to tax relief on interest, has meant we’ve worked with a lot of clients to look at whether their BTL remains commercial and if, for example, incorporation could help.
- Helping clients coming to, or leaving, the UK navigate the complexities of the Statutory Residence Test when determining their liability to UK taxes, and any planning opportunities available.
- Helping employees navigate the complexities of UK and overseas employee share option and reward schemes, including a rather good presentation to a group of Cambridge employees, on US share schemes, from our very own Emma!
- Having fun with Cambridge 105 radio recording informative podcasts on topical tax tips and accounting matters. If you’ve not yet tuned in, why not take a moment over the festive period to put your feet up and listen here. We also keep our clients and contacts abreast of the latest development from our world via our blog. 2022 kept us on our toes with four ‘budget’ announcements in less than twelve months!
- Our refreshing new logo, and a big congratulations to Alex, Emma, Chloe, Aniketa and Sarahjane on their promotions!
The twelfth day of Christmas is 5 January, it’s the day the three kings were believed to have arrived in Bethlehem!
By then, we’ll all be back in the office after a fun-packed festive break. Our focus will be on 2022 Tax Returns. If you’ve not provided us with your information yet, please liaise with your usual contact as soon as you can.
Meanwhile, we send all our clients and contacts the very best wishes for the festive period and beyond.
