Vicky joined the CKLG team in May 2018 and in her words has “enjoyed six very fulfilling years” with the Business Services team. Her role as Senior Accounts Executive involves bookkeeping, VAT returns, management accounts, year-end statutory accounts, and corporation tax. Primarily working with limited companies across many different sectors. “Although my work is structured, the diversity of my clients ensures no two days are the same”, she enthuses.
Opportunities and flexibility are what matter to Vicky. As a young mother she has to balance childcare commitments against her drive to grow her accountancy skills. “The firm has a clear path for career progression, offering numerous training opportunities and future advancement potential, but at the same time there is a balance being able to flex the hours I work during the week to support my family.”.
The Business Services team is close-knit, supporting one another and engaging in some friendly competition outside of work. Whilst we chatted Vicky reflected on a fun social darts event that was held one evening last month. When I asked her how she would describe herself, she responded; “I focus on building relationships with each client and being a reliable point of contact for their financial needs. I take pride in my work and strive to be accessible and supportive.”.
It’s clear during our chat that Vicky is driven by the impact she can make whilst working for each of her clients. There is the opportunity for her to enhance internal processes and make a difference on an individual level, “By handling bookkeeping and VAT returns, I allow business owners to concentrate on their core operations, enabling them to pursue more interesting activities. Engaging with various businesses, from tech companies to financial services and retail, I feel like an integral part of their team. Despite not meeting face-to-face often, regular communication via email and phone helps me build strong, positive relationships.”.
One of her most rewarding achievements occurred whilst working with a design and manufacturing client, for whom she manages pay runs, monthly management accounts, quarterly VAT returns, and weekly bookkeeping. “My involvement makes a significant impact, and they really make me feel like an external team member.”.
We ended our conversation with a chat about Vicky’s passion for the community. She takes a real interest in CKLG’s marketing and charitable support initiatives, which she finds really rewarding. “Our recent involvement with Caring Together, our charity of the year, has really made me think about the challenges unpaid carers face. I’m helping to organise a sponsored walk we’re running in the autumn, so if anyone out there likes hiking in the local countryside come and join us on the 15th September when we’ll be undertaking the Three Churches walk through Moulton, Dalham and Gazeley!”.
