For a long time businesses have been able to pay VAT liabilities by Direct Debit, however, this facility has not been available for PAYE/NI until now.
You can set up a Direct Debit payment for PAYE/NI online, through the ‘Pay employer’s PAYE’ page on GOV.UK or directly through your business tax account. You should see a new link ‘Set up a Direct Debit‘ where you can enter your bank account details.
Allow five working days to set up the Direct Debit, for example for a payment due on 22 October, you should aim to have it set up by 14 October.
Many businesses find having the Direct Debit in place omits the risk of missing payments and incurring interest and penalties.
